Will be held at The New Yorker
Sam Goldstein, Ph.D., will speak on "Challenges and Controversies in Defending Traumatic Brain Injury Cases."
This seminar will be approved for 1 hour of CLE credit. Register and pay online or contact Riki Lyman for alternate registration options.
No other medical defense is as complicated as injuries resulting from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). There is a large volume of scientific data to draw from, yet so many variables related to the person, environment, pre-trauma and post-trauma life makes each case unique and complicates the application of science to clinical and forensic practice. Dr. Goldstein will discuss a number of controversies, including those related to the relationship between severity of injury and symptom complaint, symptom complaint and daily impairment, and test scores and daily impairment. He will discuss issues related to the validity and reliability of neuropsychological assessments, the critical need to gather data relative to every day functioning as well as current and future research offering promise of providing forensic examiners with better means of accurately assessing impairment and outcome in TBI cases.
